The 5-Minute Mocktail
Share
In the world of home mixology, there is one flavor that consistently reigns supreme: Passion Fruit. It’s exotic, tangy, and carries a vibrant aroma that instantly makes any drink feel high-end.
But you don’t need a pantry full of rare ingredients or a degree in food science to enjoy a cafe-quality beverage. By using a premium base like Fruzesta, which preserves the natural suspension and texture of the fruit, you can create a professional-grade mocktail right in your kitchen.
Today, we’re breaking down our signature recipe: The Fruzesta Sunset Sparkler.
Why This Recipe Works
Most store-bought drinks are either too sugary or lack that "zest" of real fruit. This recipe balances the bold, concentrated tartness of passion fruit squash with the crispness of carbonation and the cooling notes of fresh mint. It’s a sensory experience—bright to the eye, fragrant to the nose, and incredibly refreshing on the palate.
Prep time: 5 minutes

The Ingredients
- 40ml Fruzesta Fruit Squash: The star of the show. Using a squash with real fruit pulp ensures a richer mouthfeel and authentic flavour.
- 100ml Chilled Sparkling Water or Club Soda: Carbonation is key to cutting through the thickness of the squash.
- 1 tsp Fresh Lime Juice: Adds a sharp top note that wakes up the tropical flavours.
- 6-8 Fresh Mint Leaves: For that essential aromatic finish.
- Ice: Lots of it. A mocktail is only as good as its temperature.
- Optional: A pinch of black salt (Kala Namak) for a classic "Zingy" Indian twist that balances the sweetness perfectly.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. The "Awakening" of the Mint
Before adding anything to the glass, take your fresh mint leaves and give them a firm "clap" between your palms. This bruises the leaves just enough to release the essential oils without making them bitter. Place them at the bottom of a tall highball glass.
2. The Base Layer
Pour in your Fruzesta Passion Fruit Squash and the lime juice. If you’re opting for the "zingy" version, add your pinch of black salt now. Use a long spoon to give the mint and squash a quick swirl.
3. The Big Chill
Fill the glass to the very brim with ice. Using large cubes is better than crushed ice, as they melt slower and won’t water down your drink.
4. The Sparkling Pour
Slowly top the glass with your chilled sparkling water. You’ll notice the beautiful golden-orange pulp of the Fruzesta beginning to swirl and rise through the bubbles.
5. The Gentle Lift
Don’t stir vigorously! Instead, take a long spoon, dip it to the bottom, and gently "lift" the squash upward once or twice. This creates a stunning gradient effect while keeping the carbonation intact.
Expert Tips for a Better Experience
- Glassware Matters: Serve this in a tall, clear glass to show off the vibrant orange hue.
- The Garnish: A thin slice of lime on the rim or a floating dehydrated orange wheel adds that "Instagram-ready" professional touch.
- Food Pairing: This mocktail pairs beautifully with spicy starters, grilled appetizers, or even a simple plate of classic salted fries.
